Remember the movie “Matrix”?  The protagonist “Thomas Anderson”, played by Keanu Reeves, works as a computer programmer at a big software firm by day and is an illegal computer hacker by night. When he is introduced to “The Matrix”, he is given a choice between two pills, one red and the other blue; take the red pill and go down the metaphorical rabbit hole to find out what the Matrix is or take the blue pill and return to his humdrum job. Would there have been a “Matrix” movie if he had taken the blue pill?

In today’s industry and corporate environment, employees are facing a similar challenge. The enlightened employees of today are no longer bound to their companies just for the sake of financial stability. Today’s millennialsdo not want to play safe; they are taking a chance by joining start-ups. And who wouldn’t? Sure, your paycheck might not be sizeable or even regular, but then you have the opportunity to contribute in building a company together with a small team of like-minded people. This exposure to risk and responsibility pays richer dividends in the way of job satisfaction and innovation than working at a desk 9 to 5 with hundreds of others doing the same boring thing day in and day out. So listen, take the red pill, take a risk, it might turn out to be the best thing ever.
